planet of the apes

We saw the Rising of the Planet of the Apes this weekend. Although the movie was billed as a summer action movie, it definitely makes you think too.

In the film Caesar, an intelligent chimpanzee, is raised by a human but ends up in a dump of a primate facility when fully grown. There he takes over the society and leads the facility’s primates, as well as those from a local lab and zoo, to freedom.

There are plenty of special effects to appeal to action fans. However, pretty deep social and ethical issues, including animal research, elder care and human psychopathy, are also broached.

All in all, I’d say this one is a definite must-see!
