On Mon, 7/30, from 1-3 at the State Capitol in Frankfort, animal advocates will attend a public forum to try to dissuade the Ky Dept of Agriculture from accepting in full recommendations from the Livestock Care Standards Commission , which neglect to address gestation crates and tail docking.
These two practices are painful and cruel. Better practices should prevent them from being accepted in farming and animal care. The commission, which has only been formed in the last couple of years, was supposedly created to help improve animal welfare in the state. However, it is made up of farmers and legislators who are much more concerned with economics than humane treatment of farm animals.
If you can, please attend the forum and show that you care about animals!
